Modbus is one of the specialized protocols used to transmit data in industrial automation systems. Its universality and versatility cause that it is often available also in home installations and devices. It is implemented in HRV units, heat pumps, heating boilers, fan coil units, PV inverters, air conditioners, EV chargers, energy meters and other devices.
We develop integrations based on the Modbus RTU protocol (serial communication via a 2- or 3-wire cable on the RS485 port) and Modbus TCP (communication on the TCP port via a computer network).
FIBARO and Yubii hubs allow direct communication with devices using Modbus TCP. Such devices shall be connected to the home network (via LAN or WiFi), all you have to do is installing dedicated QuickApp (plugin) at the FIBARO/Yubii hub.
For devices supporting Modbus RTU, it is necessary to use a Modbus RTU-TCP gateway (hardware converter), which will convert the RTU format from the RS485 port into the TCP format available via the LAN/WiFi network.

QuickApp (fqax file) for HomeCenter 3 (Lite) and Yubii Home (Pro) series hubs. It allows to modify the transmission parameters of a device using Modbus RTU. Depending on the available options, it allows to change the device address (modbus ID), baudrate and parity. It works in conjunction with QuickApps that support integration (described below) and for devices that do not offer the ability to change parameters via a screen or control panel (e.g. Eastron energy meters, Waveshare relay modules or SHT20 sensor). In the QuickApp's variables, you must provide the ID of main QuickApp that integrates the device. Please remember that after changing the baudrate or parity, appropriate changes should also be made to the configuration of the Modbus RTU-TCP gateway. |
